1. SINGLE CONTROL BOARD
With an operating system based on a single, advanced Z-Control board, VIP Power-Trak R Series units offer both unmatched reliability and ease of maintenance. The VIP CR option adds a Data Acquisition Interface with a built-in microcomputer and fiberoptic link to configure the system for full computer control. VIP CR units can be operated with Inductotherm's Meltminder 2000 or Meltminder 1 00 Series computer control systems, also available as an option.
2. DOOR WITHIN A DOOR PROTECTS CONTROL CIRCUITRY

A separate, climate-controlled compartment, sealed behind its own door, isolates each unit's control circuitry from higher voltage areas, keeping the control circuitry cool and clean. This dramatically increases circuit board life and further enhances the unit's high reliability. |

SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS

The VIP control panel incorporates a circuit monitor with easy-to-read LED indicators displaying key system status information. These indicators also serve to alert the operator to system problems. The VIP CR option also offers a digital display screen showing major VIP operating parameters, such as inverter power, inverter frequency, furnace current, furnace voltage, capacitor voltage, and total kWh generated by the VIP, as well as all alarms and limits. |

3. RUGGED, HIGH-POWERED SCRs AND DIODES
|
VIP systems use silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRS) to convert AC to DC and back to AC at the frequency desired. This AC/DC/AC conversion provides a stable DC platform and minimizes feedback to the power line. To assure exceptionally long component life, VIP units use heavy-duty SCRs and diodes which are selected conservatively to run at levels 50% below manufacturers' kVA ratings. This provides a 100% design safety factor. Units above 300 kW use 77mm inverter grade SCRs with twice the capacity of standard 50mm SCRS. These durable SCRs add a powerful dimension to system reliability. |

SUPERIOR SAFETY ISOLATION
All induction furnaces should be isolated from the line. Inductotherm offers both primary and secondary isolation systems.

4. FULL-ACCESS WATER PUMPING MODULE

ULTIMATE SYSTEM PROTECTION
The VIP unit's backup safety systems maximize safe equipment operation and uptime.

An AC Interrupter serves as an ultra-fast, solid state circuit breaker and expedites the system's response to emergency conditions. Additionally, the ACI features Soft Start, which prevents surge currents through the gradual charging of the filter capacitor during power-up.

An Over-Voltage Protection Module bypasses electrical spikes on the supply line which might cause the system to shut down.

On smaller systems, protection against component malfunction and major line disturbances is provided by a current limiting reactor and high-speed circuit breaker, saving on costly fuse replacement.
5. MULTI-LEVEL CAPACITOR PROTECTION
